There was/ There were [Inglés]

Volvemos con el contenido de gramática “There is/ there are” (hay). Ya hemos visto en anteriores entradas tanto there is/ there are en sus modos positivo, negativo y de pregunta, a la vez que lo hemos comparado con It’s. A continuación toca tratar su forma de modo pasado, es decir, there was/ there were.

There was/ There were [Inglés]

Observa la siguiente tabla los ejemplos tanto en presente como pasado:

Presente y pasado
PRESENTE	There is a bus every hour
PASADO	The time now is 12.30. There was a bus at 12.15

Ahora vamos a comprobar There was/there were tanto en positivo, negativo como pregunta:

POSITIVO	There was a good film on TV yerterday
NEGATIVO	There wasn’t anything to eat
PREGUNTA	Were there any phone messages for me yerterday?

Recuerda que There was hace referencia a había en la persona del singular, mientras que There were se refiere a había pero en plural.
