En la siguiente entrada vamos a mostraros el contenido de gramática “There is/ there are” (hay) tanto para el singular como el plural.

Observa la siguiente tabla para observar cómo se escribe hay para objetos o cosas en singular: there is.  

SINGULAR
POSITIVO	There is… (There’s)
NEGATIVO	There is not… (There isn’t/ there’s not)
PREGUNTA	Is there…?

Por ejemplo, vamos a traducir las siguientes frases en inglés:

• Hay un gran árbol en el jardín: There’s a big tree in the garden.
• No hay nada en la TV hoy: There’s nothing on TV tonight
• Disculpe, ¿hay un hotel cerca? Excuse me, Is there a hotel near here?

Vamos a observar el plural a continuación:

PLURAL
POSITIVO	There are…
NEGATIVO	There are not… (There aren’t)
PREGUNTA	Are there…?

Por ejemplo, vamos a traducir las siguientes frases en inglés:

• Hay muchos accidentes en la carretera: There are a lot of accidents on this road.
• Este hotel es muy tranquilo. No hay mucha gente aquí: This hotel is very quiet. There aren’t many people here.
• ¿Cuántos jugadores hay en el equipo? How many players are there in a football team?
